Patch Types:
Embroidered Patches
Embroidered patches are the classic and most common style of patches around. They are used the world over on uniforms and by everyone else on jackets, vests, backpacks, hats and elsewhere to support their favorite band, brand or just to make a statement with a cool design. Almost limitless options are available depending on the kind of look and statement that you wan to make.
Embroidered patches have a twill base. Your design is then partially or fully embroidered on top of the base, giving a raised surface texture.
Woven Patches
Woven patches are very similar to embroidered patches in all options but use a thinner thread and backing. This allows for a more flat profile and a more detailed design. Woven patches are also a little bit cheaper than embroidered patches. The edges of the patch can be laser cut or you can have a raised, embroidered edge, added.
Chenille Patches
Chenille patches are the fluffy, soft and fuzzy patches that you typically see on letterman jackets or sweaters. Commonly associated with schools and sports, these type of patches can also be used for any type of design or purpose that you have in mind. The yarn used is thick and dense. So, this type of patch works best for larger, less detailed designs. Though, it can be combined with embroidery to get some additional details in the patch design.
Rubber / PVC Patches
Rubber/PVC patches are a great alternative to embroidered versions. They are waterproof and durable. They have a clean and crisp modern look. They allow for better Pantone color matching. Also, since rubber and PVC patches are created in a mould, they have versatility in both 2D and 3D design options.
Leather Patches
Leather patches are a great option when you want a rugged, natural look. Available in a variety of real or faux leather materials and colors/shades. Your logo or other design can be stamped, etched or printed. Leather patches are typically only available as a sew-on option with no backing.
Printed Patches
Printed patches are a unique, alternative style of patch. They use an existing pre-made blank patch (typically white) and then have a design printed directly on them through a dye sublimation process. Because the design is printed, you can literally have any color and any kind of design on this style of patch.
